There was a particular concern raised about
speeds and staff was directed to put the speed trailer on this stretch of road. The information
gathered by the speed trailer found that most people on the road, about 85%, were driving 31 or
32 mph. Staff is recomrriending that the existing signage is appropriate and no change is
necessary.
Motion to recommend to the City Council that the existing signage at the iiztersection of
Riverdale Drive and Alpaca Street is appropriate and no change in the signage is necessary.
Action:
Ratify the reconunendation of the Public Works Committee.
Case #2 Consider Paving Drive Aprons on Welcomes Road
Background:
The Welcomes Road project was completed in 2007. The City agreed to pay the costs associated
with the storm sewer and one-half of the road project. The project was assessed with the
estimated construction costs of $225,519.00 plus overhead costs. The final construction costs
were only $219,002.33, which is a difference of $6,517.57. Resident, Del Howe has contacted
the City and indicated that a number of property owners had expected their driveways would be
paved up to the new road as part of this project. He referenced the feasibility study that is
consistent with past policies and did not cover driveway paving costs. He stated that there are 8
driveways that are still unpaved or have a gap in the paved connection from their driveway to the
road.
-163-
