I have been told that there is opposition, to the plans to hold motorsports events at this location. I <br />for one would like to see the planning commission reconsider their stance on this, a demolition <br />derby is THE number one fundraiser at all county fairs around MN and also many other states. <br />Which for your community it -means revenue for hotels/motels, restaurants and bars, even auto <br />parts stores as we tend to break stuff in the process of competing for some reason. Revenue for <br />businesses means more tax base so even the county/city government get a little revenue from <br />this. This is no back country county fair sport anymore, we travel all over competing to be the top <br />dog, not only in our own state but others as well, we traveled to Oregon,IL for a large derby which <br />had competitors from as far away as Utah and Ohio. I feel the park is a <br />warranted idea as far as bringing moneys to your city and county. Alot of derby or for <br />that fact motorsports people travel to events throughout the state,and with good a <br />complex and hosts it is common to have excellent driver and crowd turnouts bringing <br />money to your bussinesses. In closing I would hope to see this happen as I would <br />attend. I would attend most if not all of <br />these types of events, seeing as there are currently no other venues such as this in our area.
