• <br />Approve Resolution Initiating Concept Planning for Sunfish Lake Park <br />By: Marls Riverblood, Parks Supervisor <br />CASE # <br />Background: <br />The purpose of this consent agenda case is to begin concept planning for Sunfish Lake Park <br />by approving Resolution 07-12-XXX. The resolution. approves Brauer & Associates as the <br />consultant assigned to work with staff, the Park Commission and City Council on the park <br />planning process. <br />Observations: <br />As City Council will recall, on March 27t~' of this year, Council approved $30,000 within the <br />2007 Park's Capital Improvement Program to begin the concept planning for the park. A <br />request for proposals was sent to firnls specializing in park plaruiing gild landscape <br />architecture; with five of eight below responding. <br />^ SRF <br />^ Blacl~hoof Inc. <br />^ <br />• ^ Landscape Architecture, laic. <br />URS, Inc. <br /> <br />^ . <br />HGA <br />^ Kimley-Horn & Assoc Tiic <br />^ Brauer & Associates, Ltd. <br />^ Close Landscape Architecture <br />A scoring system was developed to evaluate the proposals consisting of five major <br />categories; 1) Reacting to the RFP, 2) Reconciling larger area with the park's plan, <br />3) Creativity or novel approaches, 4) Qualifications and presentation, 5) Meeting budget <br />expectations. <br />Brauer and Associates scored the highest, and was also determined to be the best economic <br />value. At the Park and Recreation Commission's November meeting, the Commission <br />recommended proceeding with concept plan planning using Brauer's services. <br />Council Action: <br />Approving Resolution 07-12-XXX begimiing the Sunfish Lalce Concept planning .process, <br />.utilizing the services of Brauer and Associates, at anot-to-exceed amount of $30,000. <br />Reviewed by: <br />City Administrator <br />• Public Works Director <br />CC; 12/11/07 <br />-423- <br />
