<br />Minnesota State Building Code approved structure. A sign is considered temporary if it is <br />not intended to remain on the property permanently and has not received a permanent <br />sign permit and/or is not intended to be constructed per the State Building Code. <br /> <br />a. Duration: Temporarv signs shall be permitted for up to six weeks <br />per year per parcel. or per business on multi-tenant business parcels. The six-week limit <br />may be extended up to four weeks if there have been no sign violations in the past year <br />by the entity who erects the sign. <br /> <br />b. Location: Temporary signs must be located fully on private <br />property. with the permission of the property owner. The city will remove any signs in <br />the public right-of-way. or erected without permission from the property owner. <br /> <br />c. Number: All properties are limited to two temporary signs per <br />parcel. In locations where there are multiple businesses on one parcel (a multi-tenant <br />facility). three signs are pennitted. <br /> <br />d. Size: Temporary signs shall be limited to 50 square feet in size. <br /> <br />d. Fee: All temporal"" signs are exempt from permitting and fees. The <br />provisions of the ordinance apply to all temporary signs. and appropriate penalties for <br />violations will be assessed. as outlined in Section 9.12.21. <br /> <br />Subdivision 1. Crand Openmgs and Pu.blie Events, Portable <br />Siglls, Balloons, Gas Filled Figures, Streamers, Whirling Devices and Revolving <br />Searchlights or any such sign resembling the same, are prohibited from use within the <br />city except for public events once per year. for UP to two weeks. , or when used as an <br />integral part of the design of a building, or grand openings (the initial commencement of <br />business). In the case of grand openings or public events, 'smrling devices, streamers <br />and r€':olving searchlights shall be allo'Tved for the 'Noele only of said public event or <br />grand opening; porta-ble signs and balloons shall be allov,r-ed for ....lp to thirty (30) days <br />surrounding the public event or grand opening. <br /> <br />Subel. 2. Patifieal Signs posted by a candidate for political office, or <br />by a person or group promoting a political issue or a political candidate may be placed in <br />any district. Political signs are limited to thirty two (32) square feet in area and such <br />signs shall be rcmoyed vlithin seven (7) days follo'sing the election. <br /> <br />Subd.3. Carage Sale and Craft Sale Signs. "\dvertising and <br />directional garage and craft sale signs are limited to six (6) square feet and shall be of the <br />free standing type only. Garage and craft sale signs shall be placed on private property <br />only and shall have the property O'.\'11er'S permission. "\11 such sale signs shall be <br />removed within t''vellty four (21) hours after the completion of tlle sale. },. fixed fee, as <br />established by City Council, per sign not removed 'TVitlUll 21 hours following the <br />completion of the sale will be eharged and said charges will be used to defray the cost of <br />removal by the City. Garage and craft sale signs shall identify the dates of the sale, <br />name, address and telephone number of the sign owner. <br /> <br />27 <br />
