<br />Community Development Director Trudgeon stated that this issue waxes and wanes and noted <br />that this is the first time the issue has been raised in about 7 years. He stated that staff is hearing <br />loud and clear that the existing ordinance may be not adequate. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked if the tower were put behind the ball fields at Alpine Park, where the access <br />road would be. <br /> <br />Steve Edwards, representing T-Mobile stated that he visited the ball field site a few weeks ago <br />and they were. constructing a fence and he would like to locate the access road next to the fence. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Olson stated that he would like to locate the access road between the two <br />fields. <br /> <br />Mr. Edwards stated that they will only need to access the tower about once a month. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey asked why the access would be built between the two fields because this <br />area is used as a warm up area for the players. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Olson stated that he would like the area between the fields to be paved <br />because it will serve as the access road, but also make it easier for strollers and wheelchairs to <br />move between the fields. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen asked how high the cell phone towers generally were and also how high <br />ball field lights \)'ould be. He stated that he was wondering if the cell phone antelmae could be <br />incorporated into ball field lighting. <br /> <br />Mr. Edwards stated that their tower is about 165 feet high. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Olson stated that ball field lights vary, but are generally around 65 feet <br />high. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen asked if the base of the tower needed to be behemoth. <br /> <br />Mr. Edwards stated that the tower base needs to be about 5 feet by 5 feet. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig asked if there were concerns about putting the tower close to the highest <br />hill in the area. <br /> <br />Mr. Edwards stated that they are trying to keep the tower height near 165 feet to get the coverage <br />they would like to get to the northwest and it allows them to get over the hill <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig asked if there was another location that would serve their needs better. <br /> <br />, Mr. Edwards stated that if there was a location further northwest, it would serve their needs <br />better, but the City owned property to the northwest is surrounded by residential. <br /> <br />-269- <br />
