<br />Case #3: <br /> <br />Business Network Meeting <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated he attended a League of Minnesota Cities Regional Meeting where he met <br />with Mr. Matt Entenza, MN 20/20, who spoke on transportation and legislative issues. He <br />commented that Mr. Entenza indicated he would be very happy to do a presentation to the <br />businesses in Ramsey. Mayor Gamec stated he discussed the cost of transportation with <br />businesses in Anoka and Ramsey, particularly with delivery trucks sitting in traffic for extended <br />periods of time, and the impact it has on the businesses. He indicated this could be an <br />opportunity to involve surrounding communities in the Spring networking meeting. <br /> <br />Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan commented the EDA must consider that this evenJ <br />has been for Ramsey businesses. He explained that expanding the scope would include deciding <br />who to invite and he is not sure how to address that. He mentioned that Governor Palenty has <br />not responded to date; however, Mr. Charlie Weaver stated he is ready and willing to speak. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec commented that Mr. Weaver would speak generally on the economic growth of <br />businesses. <br /> <br />Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan stated the feedback he received IS that <br />transportation is a hot topic for businesses. <br /> <br />Motion by Member Steffen, seconded by Member Strommen, to contact Mr. Entenza and book <br />him for March 2008. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Cllairperson Riley, Members Steffen, Strommen, Kiefer, and <br />Schindel. Voting No: None. Absent: Members Elvig and LeTourneau. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec questioned why this event is not being held before March 2008. <br /> <br />Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan replied March is a good spacing between the <br />legislative session and Business Appreciation Day and that it gives sufficient time to set it up. <br /> <br />Chairperson Riley commented he has been asked about the Ramsey Town Center. He <br />questioned members on whether it would be a good time to provide a Town Center update at the <br />meeting in March. He stated he would like the City to formulate a five minute update/news <br />conference to address the issues and status of Ramsey Town Center. <br /> <br />ADJOURN <br /> <br />Motion by Member Steffen, seconded by Member Kiefer, to adjourn the meeting. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Riley, Members Steffen, Kiefer, and Strommen. Voting <br />No: None.
