CASE # 2

Draft Goals & Policies for Comp Plan
By: Chris Anderson, Environmental Coordinator

Background:

As the Board knows, the City is in the process of updating its comprehensive plan. Through a
series of Open Space Technologies meetings, in which the attendees set the agenda, residents
were able to express their opinions about the future of Ramsey. These opinions and beliefs have
been compiled into a draft set of goals and policies that will help shape Ramsey over the next ten
(10) years. The focal points of the goals and policies include: Housing, Health, Land Use,
Marketing/Economic Development, Natural Resources, Parks & Recreation, Public Facilities,
Transportation, and Urban Services. These draft goals and policies will be presented to the
general public at a meeting scheduled for January 16,2008.

The following items are enclosed for your review (as Exhibit 1):

a) Memo regarding the Comprehensive Plan Update
b) Draft Goals & Policies
c) Environmental Protection/Resource Management Chapter of Current Comp Plan

Recommendation:

Staff is requesting that the EPB review the set of draft goals and policies and to pay special
attention to those related to natural resources. A member of the Planning Staff will be in
attendance to address questions and collect comments.

EPB Action:

Board members should be prepared to provide feedback regarding possible additions, deletions
and/or amendments.

EPB: 1/7/08
