3. A new fence be installed around the rear yard, which is completely opaque, as to better
screen damaged vehicles that are waiting for service.

Citizen Input

There was none.

Rob Twedt, Blue Line Collision, stated he was fine with everything but had concerns about the
fence being changed. He stated G&B Properties recently had the fire system, fence, curb and
gutter and parking updated on the proposed site. He indicated they will be doing large vehicle
repair there. He stated the fence is chain link with slats and is nice looking and will continue to
maintain it. He stated the current fence is six feet in height with barbed wire on top.

Vice Chairperson Levine asked what was adjacent to the back ofthe property.

Interim Assistant Community Development Director Geisler stated there are some other types of
industrial businesses to the south. She stated the fence was intended to shield view from
Riverdale and Tungsten.

Commissioner Hunt asked if the surrounding businesses have a six-foot fence and semi storage,
why they would be requiring a higher fence at this site. He thought a taller fence would look
quite obtrusive trying to shield something that will be less obtrusive.

Vice Chairperson Levine Asked what the nature of the business will be.

Mr. Twedt stated it will be for heavy equipment repair such as tractors, semi repair, and motor
home repair. He stated the intent is to store the vehicles in the back and they could be kept
further to the west where Highway 10 would not be as visible.

Commissioner Brauer wondered if the cost of a fourteen-foot fence would be prohibitive with the
high winds they get in Minnesota.

Mr. Twedt stated he talked to North Star Fence and it would cost around $27,000 to build a fence
sixteen foot tall and it would be similar to what they have along the highways.

Motion by Commissioner Van Scoy, seconded by Commissioner Cleveland, to close the public
hearing.

Motion Carried.
