<br />Chairperson McDilda stated that they are an advisory board to Staff, who takes that opinion to <br />the Council. He stated that the EPB works hand in hand with Staff. <br /> <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that they could use the wording, to work with Staff <br />to research and advise Council on an open space referendum. <br /> <br />Chairperson McDilda stated that there were things that were completed last year that were not in <br />the work plan. He suggested that they add, to encourage citizen awareness and education <br />through the environmental expo, environmental speaker series, and the master naturalist <br />program. <br /> <br />Board Member Max questioned where they were on the tree bank. <br /> <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that he did work on the wording of an ordinance <br />earlier in the year, but then had to focus more time on the NRI and the open space referendum. <br /> <br />Chairperson McDilda stated that they do need to prioritize their time since they do only meet 12 <br />times per year, for a total of about 24 hours. He stated that issues sometimes fall behind, but <br />they do get back to them. <br /> <br />Board Member Max stated that he would just like to see more broad statements in the new work <br />plan. <br /> <br />Motion by Board Member Freeburg and seconded by Board Member Max to direct <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson to compose a draft of the work plan for the EPB to review <br />at their January meeting. <br /> <br />Motion carried. V oting Yes: Chairperson McDilda, Board Members Freeburg, Max, Bentz, <br />OIds, and Sibilski. Voting No: None. Absent: Board Member Harvey. <br /> <br />OLD BUSINESS <br /> <br />Board Member Freeburg asked if there would be a joint meeting with the Council. <br /> <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that with the direction from Council at the <br />November 20 work session, that there wasn't the need anymore for the joint meeting. Board <br />Member Freeburg stated that he did purchase newspapers with an article that he thought would <br />be beneficial for the Council to see. <br /> <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that he could type up a brief paragraph about it and <br />include it in the weekly update to the Council. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson reported that there is a low impact development workshop <br />coming up. He added that it is a free workshop, and lunch would be included. He stated that it <br />would be an interesting topic for the Board, as it deals with alternative ways to treat storm water, <br />other than just digging a huge pond. <br />Environmental Policy Board / December 3, 2007 <br />Page 6 of7 <br />
