5.09.03 Dog Regulations <br />Subdivision 1. Definitions <br />Boarding -shall mean providing for the care, shelter,. or feeding of <br />dog(s), not owned by the owner or occupant of the premises where .said dog(s) are kept, <br />for any period exceeding 12 contiguous hours. <br />Dog -shall mean any male or female of the canine species. <br />Dangerous Dog -shall. mean and include: <br />a. Any dog with a known propensity, tendency or disposition to attack <br />unprovoked, to cause injury or to otherwise endanger the safety of <br />human beings or domestic animals; or . <br />b. Any. dog which attacks a human being or domestic animal without <br />provocation; or <br />c. Any dog owned or harbored primarily or in part for the purpose of <br />dog fighting or any dog trained for dog fighting. <br />Dog Owner -shall mean the license. holder or any. other person or <br />persons, firm, association, or corporation owning, keeping or harboring a dog. Any <br />person keeping or harboring a dog for five consecutive days shall, for the purposes of this <br />Section, be deemed an owner.. <br />Kennel, Commercial - is a place where boarding and/or training is <br />offered to any number of dogs not owned by the owner or occupant of the premises. <br />Such boarding and/or training may also include but is not limited to related uses such as <br />selling, breeding, showing, treating or grooinulg. Pet shops, veterinary clinics, and pet <br />grooming facilities are considered commercial uses but shall not be defined as <br />commercial kennels. A conditional use permit is required in any district where <br />commercial dog kennels are not specifically identified as a permitted use. <br />I Kennel, Private - is a place where a dog owner keeps ~3 four 4~ or <br />more dogs over six (6) months of age on property occupied by the dog owner for <br />residential purposes and where the keeping of such dogs is incidental to the occupancy of <br />the premises, and may include breeding and selling of dogs as a hobby. ~ <br />t> _, r _____....... ,..~,.,,.,~ ~ ~ -~ ~^` a_ ,a A Conditional Use. <br />Permit is required for four (4) or more dogs. <br />Owner -shall mean the license holder. or any other person or persons, <br />firm, association, or corporation owning, keeping or harboring a dog.
