CONSIDER A RESOLUTION HIRING A <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR <br />Givonna Reed Kone, Human Resources Manager <br />Background <br />VCASE # <br />In November 2007 the City's Community Development Director left the City's employ <br />and the City Council authorized staff to begin the recruitment process to fill the position. <br />The position was advertised and interviews were held with seven candidates and three <br />finalists. The three finalists were interviewed by the City Administrator, Personnel <br />Committee, Planning Commission Chair and EDA Chair. After careful consideration by <br />the stakeholders listed above, Amber Miller is being recommended for the Community <br />Development Director position. <br />Ms. Miller has successfully met all requirements of the background check and, pending <br />approval from the City Council, Ms. Miller would begin employment on March 24, 2008 <br />at an hourly rate of $38.44. Ms. Miller would be subject to a one year probationary <br />period and all other personnel policies would apply normally. <br />Funding Source <br />The Community Development Director position is included in the 2008 General Fund Budget and <br />there are no additional costs associated with hiring Ms. Miller as Community Development <br />Director. <br />Committee Action <br />Make a motion recommending that the City Council hire Amber Miller as the City's <br />Community Development Director. Ms. Miller would begin employment on March 24, 2008 <br />at an hourly rate of $38.44.
