• Background:
Staff stated that some of the changes for the street maintenance program is for sealcoating, the
City will move to using granite chips because there is a stockpile of pea rock and staff would like
to use this for sealcoating projects in parks.
The following is the cost difference from using pea rock and granite chip.
It will cost about 20% more, but the City has had problems with pea rock flying all over and
there has also been having this problem on cul de sacs, so they are plamiing to move to using
asphalt with a polymer on cul de sacs and MSA streets. The City will also begin the new
assessment program which will be decreased by 1/7 over the next 7 years. The feasibility study
should be ready by the first meeting in February and then the public hearings can be scheduled.
There will also be information nights scheduled where residents can come and talk about the
projects informally.
Action:
No action needed.
COMMITTEE INPUT
• Reviewed by:
City Administrator:
Public Works Dire&r/Pnncipal City Engineer
City Engineer
Assistant City Engineer
Civil Engineer II
CC: 02/12/08
-123-
