Parks Supervisor Riverblood stated they have three people signed up already but they would like to provide more advertising for this. Commissioner LaMere asked if Parks Supervisor Riverblood was the primary supervisor for this. Parks Supervisor Riverblood stated he would be and felt most of the projects would be park related. He did not think there would be a lot of supervision needed but some guidance may be needed. Commissioner Erickson thought this was a great idea and something could be placed on the website. Chairperson John loved the volunteer connection online. She hoped interested people would contact Parks Supervisor Riverblood. Parks Supervisor Riverblood stated he could be reached but would prefer an interested resident to go directly to.the University of Minnesota website to get more information and sign up. Commissioner Barr asked if there was a way to put an email address on the website for updates~ ChairPerson Johns thought it was a wonderful opportunity to have this open to the residents of Ramsey. Case #3: Ratify the 2008-2012 Parks Capital Improvement Program Parks Supervisor Riverblood explained that on January 8th of this year, City Council is expected to approve the 2008 through 2012 Capital Improvement Program (CIP), which includes up to ten park related improvements for 2008. It is important to note that the .doclJlllentis aplaIll)ing tool and forecast - and does not initiate a project or allocate funding. These park improvements have different funding sources which are identified in the attached CIP worksheets, along with the project description and justification. The purpose of this case is to review the park improvements that are scheduled several years out in brief - with more detail afforded to the near-term projects. As the City initiates a specific park or trail project for the current year, the costs and work plan are defined and brought to the Commission for recommendation to City Council. There are, however, two potential park land purchas~s that are not included in the plan that staff would like to discuss with the Commission. Ifthe consensus ofthe Commission is that these two parcels should be considered for purchase by willing sellers; then this.can be added to the Parks CIP at a subsequent time by Council.
