<br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood reviewed the first land acquisition they are looking at. He noted the <br />first parcel. is twelve acres and the area to the east was proposed. as park. The area shown as <br />proposed is primarily wetland. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns asked if they recommend purchase of these parcels, would it take the funds <br />from another proposed project for 2008. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood stated that would not be staff s recommendation. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns stated she would like to see some land that is open without something being <br />programmed on it. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood state the second land acquisition is along the Mississippi River. <br />This is a small parcel ofland and he did not know if it would be buildable or not. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns thought it would be a great idea to get this parcel of land because it would add <br />to the small stops they already have along the Mississippi. She thought this was at least worth <br />pursumg. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Shryock, seconded by Commissioner Erickson, to direct staff to <br />explore the options for these two parcels for possible purchase. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Johns, Commissioners Shryock, Erickson, Barr, <br />,Hansen, and LaMere. Voting No: None. Absent: Backous. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood reviewed the proj ects for 2009 with the Commission. <br /> <br />Drinking Fountains- $5,000 <br /> <br />Concrete Restroom Facilities - $40,000 <br /> <br />Hexagonal Shelters for Various Parks - $44,000 <br /> <br />Water & Sewer for Elmcrest Park - $30,000 <br /> <br />Would need to fmd out how they could get water and sewer run t<;> Elmcrest Park. <br /> <br />Irrigation for Titterud Park - $76,000 . <br /> <br />Observation Boardwalk - Lake Itasca - $30,000 <br /> <br />Peltzer Park Connections - $45,000 <br /> <br />Trail Connections - $220,000 <br /> <br />Trying to balance trail connections with trail fees. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission/January 10, 2008 <br />Page 7 of9 <br />
