<br />quarterly press releases, chambers of commerce with emaillists and possibly a billboard along <br />THIO to communicate key Coalition messages. She reviewed they are available to work on <br />communication within the community. She explained they are available to meet with community <br />members if requested. She explained they will meet with each agency and Council, provide <br />documents to policy leaders and use a Thursday email to give a consistent Coalition message. <br />She offered to include the City's Boards and members if they are interested in the email updates. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec explained they could include the Highway 10 update in an email. <br /> <br />Ms. Rhuele stated that she will work with Staff to get the emaillist. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey asked if there is a website where Coalition minutes are listed for the <br />public or where cities could access information and be updated. <br /> <br />Ms. Rhuele stated that they have not provided this but could consider it. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey stated that they could use a page of a city to host this. <br /> <br />Ms. Rhuele stated that the County is their biggest supporter. She explained that the State and <br />Federal funding is the next area to review. She stated that the Coalition can work on this and <br />work within the timelines as necessary. She explained that meeting with committees and <br />providing updates makes more people informed so that awareness is raised in the community. <br />She explained that they want to publicize the Coalition so that it expands and involves other <br />cities. <br /> <br />Mr. Tinklenberg explained that if a Rotary group or other such group would like an update of <br />what is happening with transportation they would like an opportunity to make a presentation <br />about the Coalition's work and accomplishments. <br /> <br />Ms. Frick stated that at the last Coalition Board meeting there was discussion about the third lane <br />that is being planned for Highway 10 to end at Round Lake Boulevard instead of Hanson <br />Boulevard. She explained that they would work with MnDOT to have a discussion on this as a <br />project. She explained that if the project is first completed to Hanson Boulevard and then a <br />second project is completed up to Round Lake Boulevard, additional Federal funding would <br />apply. <br /> <br />Mr. Tinklenberg explained that they look at who can provide a funding match in every situation. <br />He explained that the lane drop at Hanson would apply as a lane match for phase two to Round <br />Lake Boulevard, which would be a huge accomplishment. He explained that it is a very long- <br />term strategy as it is viewed in pieces. He explained that once the new Hanson exchange was <br />completed the idea of adding a third lane could be considered because so much work was done <br />previously. He reiterated that it is a long-term strategy to plan out the phases. He explained that <br />the third lane will be worked on in 2009 to alleviate the bottleneck. <br /> <br />Ms. Frick requested a consensus from the Commission on a decision and then to move forward <br />to the public and the policy leaders. <br /> <br />City Council Work Session I January 29, 2008 <br />Page 8 of 17 <br />
