Erika Sitz and John Freeburg <br />• Current wetlands are losing water <br />• Ramsey may not be able to open a new water well (may have to tap the Mississippi) <br />• Some wetlands are losing quality (vegetation infill) <br />• Wetlands are a people buffer (this is why we moved here) <br />• We should not be shipping our waste/storm water out of the city. <br />• New developments should be built to contain the local water <br />• Should wetlands be assessed/taxed at a different rate than buildable land <br />• How can a landowner fill in a wetland that is not wanted (burrow pit used for house <br />construction in the past -previous owner dup pit) <br />• Owners need to be able to renew wetland by removing natural plant fill (burning peat or <br />digging out) <br />• Wetlands need "active management", not just preservation by buffers <br />• We should repeal the wetland buffer ordinance and use tax incentives to encourage voluntary <br />buffering <br />• Water is our best resource -let's look to the rivers for a supply <br />ISSUE: Water Quantity -Especially Drinking Water -What do we do about Limits? <br />Erika Sitz <br />• Aquifer is tapped out <br />• River water is <br />1.
