Councilme~ber;Zimmerman mentioned the case regarding Danny's Aluminum Processing which <br />involved Dal~ Kitrst's application for a conditional use permit and that it was denied at the City <br />Council m6eting of October 13, 1992. <br /> <br />COMMISSION BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case gl: Interview Mary Ullen for Commission Vacancy. <br /> <br />The Economic Development Commission currently has a vacancy due to the resignation of Sue <br />Thorson. ~he t ~errn of this seat is set to expire on January 31, 1995. The City has received a letter <br />of applicatiott from Mary M. Ullen requesting consideration for appointment to the EDC. Ms. <br />Ullen was ila attendance at the meeting and was interviewed. <br /> <br />Motion by ~Commissioner Greenberg and seconded by Commissioner Vevea to recommend to <br />Ramsey Cil~y Co~uncil the appointment of Ms. Ullen to the Economic Development Commission for <br />a term set tO expire on January 31, 1995. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Wagner, Commissioners Nelson, Fults, Greenberg, <br />Kent, SchrOederand Vevea. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner Gorecki. <br /> <br />Case #2: <br /> <br />Site Plan and Conditional Use Permit Amendment for Danner's <br />Cabinet Shop. <br /> <br />Mr. Danner, owner of Danner's Cabinet Shop located at 16735 Quicksilver Street N.W., has <br />applied to thc City of Ramsey to expand the existing facility at its current site. A conditional use <br />permit is r{u:luir~d due to the fact that manufacturing is not a permitted use in a B-1 Business <br />District ancO!Mr. Danner is proposing to expand a presently permitted manufacturing facility at that <br />site. The p~oposal for expansion is to construct a 2,100 square foot cold storage facility located on <br />the property. AS the attached information shows, the property meets the required setbacks and <br />does not exeoed the maximum lot coverage and also has all required parking. Staff recommended <br />approval of this project to the EDC as proposed by Danner's Cabinets and that for any future <br />expansion 0t~ this business, they be encouraged to locate in a district that is correctly zoned for <br />man u facturing. <br /> <br />Motion by ,C. ommissioner Fults and seconded by Commissioner Schroeder to recommend approval <br />of the conditional use permit and site plan for Danner's Cabinet Shop and that they be encouraged <br />to take ad,d~antage of the programs that the City may have available through the Economic <br />Development Authority to eventually relocate the facility to a properly zoned area of the City. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Wagner, Commissioners Nelson, Fults, Greenberg, <br />Kent, Schroeder and Vevea. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner Gorecki. <br /> <br />Case #3: Aesthetic Improvements in the Ramsey Industrial Park Area. <br /> <br />The City has recently received applications for new businesses to locate and existing businesses to <br />expand their operations in the industrial area. With these requests, them have been some concerns <br />as to the look: of the area and that it may be considered to resemble a less than desirable nature. <br />After receiving these concerns as to the future of this ama, the City Council and City Staff has felt <br />that it may be adgantageous at this point to have a meeting with all of the business owners in the <br />industrial area to .discuss what the solution to the aesthetics problem in the area may be. It is very <br />important t~t this meeting come to them as their opportunity to give input on how they would like <br />to be encoubaged.and self-policed to create the best possible image for Ramsey's indusu'ial area. <br /> <br />Economic Development Commission/October 14, 1992 <br /> Page 2 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
