Councilme~ber Zimmerman expressed concern with the fact that people will think they should not <br />have to pay gor fife inspections as they will view that as a service of the City that should be funded <br />from taxes. ~ <br /> <br />Case #2: : Fire Department Budget <br /> <br />Fire Chief t3~rlffirt handed out a list of items needing to be purchased. He explained these items <br />have been bCdget~l for but he was unclear if the purchases were allowed due to the budget cuts. <br /> <br />City Admin.ts~rator Schroeder stated the actual budget cuts will be known at the April 28, 1992 <br />Budget Corr~itt~e meeting and added that the items approved for purchase should be purchased <br />prior to Jun~ f, 1992 to avoid the 6-1/2% sales tax. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Griff'm inquired if the training budget is still frozen to which City Administrator <br />Schroeder r~olied that there is money in the budget for the Fire Department and the Police <br />Department t~r training for certifications. <br /> <br />Chief Griffin proaeeded to summarize his requests and the reasons they are needed. <br /> <br />Motion by ~Oun¢ilmember Peterson and seconded by Boardmember Pearson to recommend that <br />Fire Chief Ci.~ffi~ submit purchase orders on items that can be processed, pursuant to the Finance <br />Officer's rex40w, ~nd those that can't be processed right away - bring to the Budget Committee for <br />review. The teqCest for the three radios should be placed on the Budget Committee agenda for <br />April 28, 1992. ~ <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Councilmembers Peterson and Zimmerman. Boardmembers <br />Pearson, Ka~ler, Sharp and Simpson and City Administrator Schroeder. Voting No: None. <br />Case #5: Update on Fire Board Structure <br /> <br />Boardmeml~r Sharp inquired as to how many members are allowed on the Fire Board. <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder reported that according to the City Charter, any City Commission <br />can have up, ~o nine members plus ex-officio members. The City Council is in the process of <br />reviewing t~at Chapter and the amendments will be introduced at the April 28, 1992 Council <br />meeting. HO stat~l he would place this case on the May 20, 1992 Fire Board meeting for further <br />discussion. <br /> <br />Case #4: ~ Ramsey Resident Appreciated <br /> <br />Boardrnemi~, r Kapler stated that four years ago the Fire Department was developed and before that <br />time a grou~ of ~eople did background work and research to get the Department going. There <br />were 17 people to start with and of those 17, eight still remain. On behalf of the Fire Department, <br />he expresse~l: pr~e in their equipment and hard work at trying to become a gl rated Fire <br />Department.? He stated there is a citizen that has been extremely involved from the very beginning <br />of the Fire I~apar~ment and read a letter of appreciation and recognition.
