<br />realizes that this is a delicate time to purchase the property because of the downturn in the <br />economy, but feels it is also a buyer's market. <br /> <br />Councilmember Look stated that he has. given this a lot of thought and had hoped to hear at the <br />Work Session that all purchasing options had been considered. He stated that he feels the City is <br />presenting a conflicting message because the City has told people along Highway # 1 0 that the <br />City does not have money to buy their property, but the City has somehow found money to <br />purchase this property. He stated that he agrees that this is a buyer's market and appreciates that <br />staff has fleshed out the costs, but with the tough economic times coming, he does not want to <br />deplete the City's coffers. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated that the City has not subsidized any properties along Highway 10 <br />because those are from the Met Council and are two different pools of money. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to approve the purchase <br />and leaseback agreements for the acquisition of the Bury and Carlson property located at 14251 <br />Jaspar Street, subject to final approval by the City Attorney. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Olson, Dehen, and <br />Strommen. Voting No: Councilmember Look. Absent: Councilmember Jeffrey. <br /> <br />MAYOR, COUNCIL AND STAFF INPUT <br /> <br />Boy Scout Breakfast <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig announced that the Boy Scout breakfast will be held at 7:29 a.m. at Lord <br />of Life Church on Thursday, February 28,2008. <br /> <br />Rotary Wine Tasting Event <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that the Ramsey Rotary Club will hold a wine tasting on March 13,2008 at <br />The Links at Northfork and noted that tickets are available from the Rotarians. <br /> <br />Economic Development Breakfast Meeting <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that there is an Economic Development breakfast meeting also on March <br />13,2008 at 7:30 a.m. and noted that Matt Intenza will be the featured speaker. <br /> <br />QCTV Offers Video Streaming <br /> <br />Councilmember Look stated that QCTV now offers video streaming of the Council meetings. <br />He stated that residents can go to the City's web site under Mayor/Council and click on QCTV <br />and download their viewing program.
