<br />Councilmember Elvig stated that he agrees that this amount seems low and noted that he carries. <br />more than this for his business, but stated that he would like to stay within the limits set by the <br />State. He questioned whether the injured parties cDuld pursue further civil action. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen stated that the insurance limit of $400,000 is the most someone could get <br />regardless of whether a jury awarded more. <br /> <br />Mr. Lenz reiterated his example in Anoka County where the judgment came in and the County <br />levied that amount to taxpayers to cover the loss. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that he feels the City should also follow the State Statute. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen stated that she is fairly comfortable with the City's insurance and <br />does not feel additional premiums are needed. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated that the resolution passed by the Council on <br />December 11, 2007 does not waive the statutory limits, so no action is necessary, if there is a <br />consensus on the Council to continue to support that resolution. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen stated that he opposed the resolution passed on December 11, 2007. <br /> <br />There was a consensus among the remaining Councilmembers to continue to support the <br />December 11, 2007 resolution. <br /> <br />Case #3: <br /> <br />Consider New Precinct Boundaries to Add Three Voting Precincts in the <br />City of Ramsey <br /> <br />City Clerk Thieling reviewed the projected growth within the existing precincts. She stated that <br />adding three precincts would help limit longer voting lines and crowded polling places, <br />especially since the upcoming election is a presidential election, which normally draws more <br />voters. She stated that there would be a cost to adding additional voting equipment and <br />additional judges. <br /> <br />Councilmember bIson asked if ward boundaries were affected by this potential change. <br /> <br />City Clerk Thieling stated that the wards would not be effected, just the precincts and locations <br />where people vote. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen stated that he feels, in Ward 3, there have always been plenty of <br />machines and no long waits. He asked if this really has been a problem in other areas of the <br />City. <br /> <br />City Clerk Thieling stated that the City has hired more judges to help mitigate some of these <br />problems. She stated that there are certain times of the day that people can expect to have longer <br />lines.
