Standby Time If the Employer requires an Employee to standby, the Employee
shall receive seventy -five dollars ($75.00) pay. If the Employee is
called into court after being on standby, he or she will forfeit the
standby pay and shall receive the three (3) hour minimum court
overtime payment instead. The Employer shall notify any
Employee on standby when said Employee is no longer on such
duty status.
Funding Source
The 3% COLA was approved as part of the 2008 General Fund Budget and the Standby
Time provision is simply an administrative update to reflect the rate the has been in place
since January 2007. The 3% COLA for 2009 will be included in the 2009 General Fund
Budget which will be presented to the City Council for consideration later this year.
The health insurance proposal for the 100% single plan is slightly different than what was
proposed for non -union employees. The revised proposal will cost the City an additional
$5,000 organization wide. There are funds in the 2008 budget to absorb the additional
cost for the 100% single plan. Staff will be presenting a separate resolution asking the
City Council to adopt the revised health insurance contribution for non -union employees.
Committee Action
Consider making a motion recommending that the City Council approve the above - listed
changes to the City's labor agreement with LELS - Sergeants. The proposed language will
be effective January 2008- December 2009.
City Council Action
Consider a motion accepting the recommendation of the Personnel Committee.
Reviewed By:
Kurt Ulrich, City Administrator
PC 2 -26 -08
M'11:C
