<br />e. A ground sign shall not project higher than ten (10) feet, as measured <br />from based of sign or grade of the nearest adjacent roadway, <br />whichever is higher. <br /> <br />9.12.11 <br /> <br />Planned Unit Developments <br /> <br />Subdivision 1. The developer shall be required to submit a sign plan for <br />approval, drawn to scale with elevations. The sign plan shall include but not be limited to <br />the following information: number of signs, type of signs, sign sizes, type of <br />construction materials, and sign messages. <br /> <br />9.12.12 <br /> <br />Construction Specifications <br /> <br />Subdivision 1. All signs permitted by this Section in excess of sixteen <br />(16) square feet shall be painted, lettered, or faced to the workmanship standards and best <br />commercial practices of companies normally engaged in the business of providing <br />commercial signs, using materials designed and marketed specifically for use on outdoor <br />signs. <br /> <br />Subd. 2. In addition to complying with the provisions of this ordinance, <br />all signs shall be constructed in accordance with the applicable provisions of the 1991 <br />Edition of the Uniform Sign Code and State Electrical Code and as subsequently <br />amended. <br /> <br />Subd. 3. All signs shall be located in such a way that they maintain <br />horizontal and vertical clearance of all electrical power lines and communication lines. <br /> <br />Subd. 4. All signs and their supporting structures shall maintain clearance <br />and non-interference with all surface and underground facilities and conduits for water, <br />sewage, gas, electricity, or communications equipment or lines. In addition, the <br />placement of all signs and their supporting structures shall not interfere with natural or <br />artificial drainage or surface or underground water. <br /> <br />Subd. 5. All signs, except those attached flat against the wall of a <br />building shall be constructed to withstand minimum wind loads as follows: <br /> <br />a. Solid Signs. Thirty (30) pounds per square foot per face of the sign. <br /> <br />b. Open Signs. Thirty-six (36) pounds per square foot of the total face <br />area of the letters and other sign surfaces, or ten (10) pounds per <br />square foot of the gross surface area of the sign, whichever is <br />greater. <br /> <br />9.12.13 <br /> <br />Non-conforming Signs <br /> <br />Subdivision 1. Any permanent type sign lawfully existing prior to the <br />adoption of this Section that does not meet the standards of this Section shall be <br /> <br />Ordinance #08-07 <br />Page 14 of 19 <br />
