Recreational
burning is not to be used for disposal.
Recreational fires must
consist of clean dry wood, producing
little detectable smoke, odor or soot
beyond the property line; conducted
with an adult tending the fire at all
times. Respect weather conditions,
neighbors, burning bans and air qual-
ity so that nuisance, health or safety
hazards are not created.
The Ramsey Fire Department
suggests a 50 foot minimum distance
between the fire site and any structure

Good Clean
Community Fun
'Adopt-A-spot'
Opportunities Available

Is your neighborhood or
business lool(ing for a way to become
involved in the community? Do you
want to get to know each other better
and have an impact on the environ-
ment in your neighborhood? We
have a great program called 'Adopt
-A-Spot' that helps clean up our city.
The 'Adopt-A-Spot' program
wants individuals, organizations,
or businesses to " ADOPT" a street,
park, trail, lot, or hotspot anywhere
in the city, and agree to keep the area
cleared of litter for at least two years
(two clean-ups per year). We provide
trash bags, reflective vests, gloves,
and dispose of the collected litter for
you.
Please contact Chandra
Kreyer at 763-433-9891 or ckreyer@
ci.ramsey.mn.us, to see if YOUR spot
is available. Your adopted spot will
also be marked with a special Adopt-
A-Spot recognition sign.

or vehicle. Snow piled or
shoveled close to hydrants restricts
operation during a fire emergency.
After a snowfall, the Public
Works Department is responsible
for clearing snow from city streets.
Depending on the amount and type of
snow, this can tal(e several days. We
are requesting your help in l(eeping
our fire hydrants accessible.
Please clear a four-foot circle
around the hydrant near your home
to assure easy access for our Fire
Department.
If you have any questions or
comments, please ccontact John Nel-
son, Utility Supervisor at 763-433-
9861 or jnelson@ci.ramsey.mn.us.
Thank you for your effort!

Fire Department. A fee is charged for
the permit. Any person conducting
an open burn without the necessary
permit shall be required to extinguish
said fire and may be cited and pros-
ecuted under Ramsey City Ordinance
#92-03 (a misdemeanor) and may be
charged the cost of fire suppression
services from the city of Ramsey Fire
Department at the rate of $300 per
hour plus any other costs incurred by
the city.
Please call the Fire Depart-
ment at 763-427-4452 if you have
any questions or concerns.

Spring
Watermain
Flushing In April

The city of Ramsey's Util-
ity Department will begin the semi-
annual flushing of watermains on
Monday, April 7 through Wednesday,
April 23. Please be aware that this
flushing, while it is necessary, will
create a disturbance in the system
resulting in lower pressures and pos-
sible discolored water. Although the
water may be discolored by iron, it is
fit for human consumption, but may
stain clothes that are washed. To al-
leviate this problem, you may want to
fill your washer with water and check
on its clarity before adding your
clothes. We appreciate your patience
and regret any inconvenience that this
may cause. If you have any ques-
tions regarding water main flushing
please contact Utility Supervisor John
Nelson at 763-433-9861 or jnelson@
C1.ramsey.mn.us.

6

www.ci.ramsey.mn.us
