Goal No. 4: Determine needs for future municipal facilities and acquire /preserve the land <br />necessary to meet these needs. <br />Goal No. 5: Modify Comprehensive Plan, Transportation Section to include a multi -modal <br />transit plant that specifically includes the Northstar Station and advocate with <br />other agencies to develop a Regional Transportation Plan to support the needs of <br />the Ramsey community <br />Goal No. 6: Create a Technology Plan to provide access to state -of -art technology network <br />through the city. <br />Goal No. 7: Create a Communication Plan for external and internal city communications. <br />There was discussion on the following vision statements submitted by Council and staff prior to <br />the retreat: <br />The Vision Thing - Comments submitted by City Council members <br />A. Focus on small business growth <br />B. Preserve the essence of Ramsey, allow intelligent growth, not forcing it <br />o There was discussion of the essence of Ramsey. Examples given were: rural <br />atmosphere, open space, diverse mix of people with mix of ages and experience, <br />diverse expectations, open space, trees, wetland, diversity of viewpoints on <br />moving forward, low crime, less congested, the uniqueness of being able to view <br />wetland from a small urban lot. <br />C. Control size of government (staff) and spending <br />• Streamline budget <br />D. Natural Resources /Open Spaces <br />• Maintaining open space <br />• Preservation of natural resources <br />• Development that respects and keeps the integrity of our natural amenities <br />o There was discussion of amenities. Examples given were: no need to leave the <br />city boundaries to transact every -day activities, restaurants, play, parks, walkable <br />park system, rivers, community center, pool, employment opportunities, rail stop <br />with ample parking, life -cycle housing, educational and cultural type activities, <br />good transportation system, post office. <br />E. To create a community that offers amenities for our residents to Live, Work and Play <br />F. Excellent service to the residents and business in the basics. <br />• Respectful government that is proactive and quality services. <br />G. Transportation <br />• North/south and east/west transportation effective transportation corridors <br />• Rail stop <br />• Light rail <br />H. Community Center <br />I. Public Works Facility <br />J. Code enforcement to improve neighborhood aesthetics <br />K. Development of Town Center <br />L.
