It will provide added value both to the other cities in the area and to the <br />metropolitan area as a whole. It will be a city where people want to live. <br />Q. Unique character — not just another suburb that looks like any other — with an emphasis <br />on building neighborhoods. <br />The Vision Thing - Comments submitted by staff <br />A. A community where you can truly live, work and play — not just a motto - which means <br />good industry with good paying jobs, diverse selection of housing for all stages of life <br />and income levels, and amenities that support people choosing to recreate here. <br />B. A city that goes one step beyond the typical expectation. <br />C. Well planned community, thought out, focus on needs of today and tomorrow, long -term <br />planning <br />D. A personable community <br />E. Utilize the urban and rural images, a well thought out blend of one to another. <br />F. Controlled/smart growth -focus on the details, proper planning <br />G. Have a thriving community with its own identity: example downtown and own zip code. <br />H. Strong leadership at City Hall. We have a new City Administrator who is getting <br />comfortable with staff. We need to act like a city, clean up the junk and make something <br />people can be proud of. This is not Mayberry and some people have a tough time with <br />that. <br />I. These elements: healthy tax base; vibrant parks; open space; a walkable community <br />J. Thriving commercial and industrial uses, employment opportunities, life cycle housing, a <br />place to recreate, tax base to support services to residents. <br />K. Image of a prosperous community / a destination to live in. <br />L. The realization of Ramsey Town Center, a variety of land use types, an abundance of <br />active and passive parks and inter - connectivity among the various city neighborhoods. <br />Council and staff broke into small groups to conduct an exercise to select and prioritize the top <br />vision statements from the above. Results were as follows: <br />Group 1: Mayor Gamec, Councilmember Strommen, Police Chief Way, Interim Community <br />Development Director Frolik, Finance Officer Lund <br />1.
