IO1~ BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: C!tizen's Green Tree Committee <br /> <br />Commissioner Florentius welcomed everyone to the meeting. She stated her interest in trees and <br />her concern!abo~ their preservation and making the City of Ramsey a better place to live. She felt <br />that working on Csues in a group would allow for positive changes. <br /> <br />Each persorl intr ~tbduced themselves and stated their interest in trees. Besides citizens, there were <br />also represe.0tati,&s from the Anoka County Tree Board and the Department of Natural Resources. <br /> <br />Mr. Michael Max, Chairman for the Anoka County Tree Board, stated the Board's plans are to <br />make them$¢lveg more available to communities, to participate in County-wide Arbor Day <br />celebration~and.IState and County fairs, having a monthly cable television show and also round <br />table discussions! <br />Environmet~t_al SPecialist Bacon stated numerous volunteers will be needed for year-around tree <br />items and prairie ~estoration projects. <br />Parks/Utility. es BOos suggested this citizen's group could set up a booth for the Environmental <br />Expo. This gtoul~l introduce the group to the community and create more interest. <br /> <br />Mr. Ken H~lmed, Department of Natural Resources, spoke on the Urban Forestry Council, the <br />Minnesota ~hadelTree Advisory Committee, MnSTAC and the Tree City U.S.A. Program. <br /> <br />Discussion Onsue0 regarding educating the public with regard to the need for trees, which trees are <br />most hardy 4nd a¢o identifying and addressing citizens "tree concerns". <br />The Citizen'S Green Tree Committee agreed to meet again on Wednesday, March 11, 1992. <br />Case #2: ~ GOals and Objectives Assignments <br />The Commiisionlproceeded to review the 1992 adopted goals for the City with regard to those <br />assigned to ~e p4r-k and Recreation Commission. Parks/Utilities ~oos stated that at the January 8, <br />1992 meetly, th/~ Commission agreed with Chairperson Hetland s idea that each Commissioner <br />should deal ~ith ia number of the goals and report back the status at subsequent meetings.
