pipe and 4" service connections provided at each lot. Additional 8" stubs could be installed at
intersection and adjacent to larger land tracts to provide an adequate connection for future
extension. Extending sanitary sewer .from its existing location appears to be. a feasible option
that would provide the greatest flexibility of future sewer use. The estimated costior this portion
of the project is $190,000 and would be financed through the Sanitary Utility Fund.

The water utility could be looped, as it is currently located along Nowthen Boulevard and at the
intersection of Limonite Street and 166th Avenue. This would most likely consist of an 8"
ductile iron pipe (DIP), connecting the existing trunk lines located on either end of the proposed
improvement area, and 1" service connections provided at each lot. Additional 8" stubs could be .
installed at intersections and adjacent to larger land tracts to provide an adequate connection for
future extension. The estimated cost for this portion of the project is $250,000 and would be
financed through the Water Utility Fund.
I

These water utility. improvements would enhance the fire fighting abilities and improve system
reliability for the households in the area. In addition, installation of municipal utilities as part of
this project would reduce future impacts and expenditures in the neighborhood, as well. as
providing system flexibility and another alternative should individual water and/or sewer
systems fail.

Funding:

This entire roadway project including design, acquisition, street and trail construction, storm
sewer installation, landscaping, and potential wetland impacts/mitigation are proposed to be paid
for with MSA funds. It is estimated that total MSA expenditures for this project are $875,000.
The sanitary sewer and watermain portions of this project, if approved, are proposed to be
funded through their corresponding Utility Funds. It is estimated that $190,000 would be
financed through the Water Utility Fund, and $250,000 through the Sewer Utility Fund.

Council Action:

Motion to approve Project #08-XX, 167th Avenue NW Realignment; including the utility
installation, additional roadway segment, and consulting services, and to order the preparation of
plans and specifications for the improvements.

Reviewed by:
P,:,blic W~rJ:s DirectoIIP.t0rgi~
CIty Admlllistrator: ^
.
