1) Present the volunteer with a personalized certificate - this would occur at the time of the <br /> activity. <br />2) Volunteer would be acknowledged publicly - through the Ramsey Resident Newsletter, <br /> Cable TV and also at the Environmental Expo/Arbor Events - this would take place <br /> following~ the completion of the activity; and <br />3) An official announcement which would include all the volunteers. This would be done <br /> annltally r, probably in conjunction with Arbor and Environmental Expo dates and also at a <br />Parl~ and ~Recreation Commission and/or City Council meeting probably in March or April <br />whieh would make other people think of volunteering their time and talents also. <br />The larger, monetary type donations would probably be recognized at the City Council level. What <br />to give the:[¥olu~ateer as recognition will be handled on a case by case basis by the Park and <br />Recreation Commission. <br /> <br />Also discussed Was a theme (i.e., Year of the Fresh Water, Year of the Prairie, Year of the <br />Wetland, e~..).The Commission felt if people are shown the value of these things, they may be <br />more apt to volunteer also. <br /> <br />The CommiSsion expressed concern about liability with regard to volunteers. They suggested City <br />Council adopt a ~formal policy with regard to waiving liability. Mr. Boos offered to contact the <br />City AttomOY to determine what should be done. <br /> <br />Case #4: Comprehensive Parks and Open Space Plan Update and Revision <br /> <br />A lengthy discussion took place with regard to the Parks Comprehensive Plan, including if there is <br />a right or wrong way to write a comp plan. <br /> <br />Consensus of the Park and Recreation Commission was that the comp plan would be reviewed <br />section by section. They directed Mr. Boos to determine what part of the plan they should start <br />with first. They also directed that Mr. Boos should work on the detail and that they (the <br />Commission) would work on the overall vision. <br /> <br />COMMISSION INPUT <br /> <br />1) Fishing Derby <br /> <br />Mr. Boos suggest~t getting information on this if the Commission was interested. <br /> <br />2) AdoPt-a-River <br /> <br />Mr. Boos stated he received some information from the Department of Natural Resources <br />regarding Adopt-a-River. He suggested maybe having a partnership with the City of Andover and <br />share the Rum RiVer. <br /> <br />3) Petitions. <br /> <br />Mr. Boos read petitions regarding winter recreation activities signed by River's Bend residents. A <br />copy of the petition is included with the minutes as Exhibit "A". <br /> <br />4) Flooding Rink <br /> <br />The Commission briefly discussed what it would take to have a skating rink flooded at River's <br />Bend Park. l~tr. Bbos cautioned that everything done calls for more time from City employees.
