<br />Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan stated that he can research this possibility. He <br />reviewed a sketch of a possible monument sign and lettering. He reviewed entrance signs for <br />surrounding cities such as Elk River, Anoka, Coon Rapids and Andover. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated that he feels Anoka's sign has too much going on and is hard to <br />read. <br /> <br />Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan noted that Andover's sign is an enhanced MnDot <br />SIgn. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey stated that he thinks the City sign should be consistent, but not <br />necessarily the same. <br /> <br />Councilmember Look asked if there was an opportunity for members of the business community <br />to donate a sign or be part of the financial backing for the sign. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that people in the Industrial' Park have wanted a sign for a long time and <br />suggested that a kiosk type sign be considered. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen stated that he likes the look of monument signs, but feels it is critical that <br />there is landscaping surrounding it. <br /> <br />Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan stated that the discussion at the EDA was that the <br />business park signage would be separate from the City signage. He stated that he understands <br />the desire for continuity in the sign materials, but the purpose is to identify the parks, not the <br />City. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey asked if there would be anything on the signs to identify the City. <br /> <br />Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan stated that as planned now, there would be nothing <br />identifying the City. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig suggested that the City information could be included in smaller lettering <br />at the bottom of the sign. <br /> <br />The Council discussed the possibility of updating the entry signs and whether the City, State or <br />County, had this jurisdiction. . <br /> <br />City Administrator Ulrich suggested that on the higher speed roadways, such as Highway 10, the <br />signs will need to be bigger and more money spent to ensure they look nice. <br /> <br />MAYOR, COUNCIL AND STAFF INPUT <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />City Council Work Session / March 18,2008 <br />Page 4 of5 <br />
