He stated that in 2005, the
cost for the signs priced out around $10,000 to $12,000, which was felt to be too costly., He
stated the City has been contacted by Central Minnesota Development Company (CMDC)
regarding construction of monument signage at key entry points to the City's Industrial Parks
and would participate financially with the City. He stated that the EDA felt that
construction and strategic placement of monument signs at entry points to the business parks
would be a good way to finish the parks and help identify Ramsey. He stated that he got a quote
on a specific sign type that would have materials that matched City Hall and the cost was
approximately $12,600. He stated that he did not think it would be feasible to put up more than
two signs per year. He presented a slide show that showed the existing signage at the 8 entry
points to the City. He stated that the Council needs to define the purpose of the signs and noted
that Connexus has expressed interest in getting power to the signs, but the City would need to
pay for this.

Councilmember Elvig asked if the signs could be solar powered.

City Council Work Session I March 18,2008
Page 3 of5
