<br />Councilmember Dehen stated that he thought the Council had already approved Phase 1 of the <br />l6ih Avenue extension. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated that he believes that the feasibility study has been approved. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that it is very important to keep the nearby residents informed about the <br />status ofthis project. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig noted that the funding mechanism was listed as To Be Determined (TBD) and <br />wondered what that would be. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski stated that he was unsure and this funding source would need to be <br />determined quickly. He stated for the Highway 10 frontage road, staff is suggesting that this run <br />concurrently with the Highway 10 corridor design. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig stated that he would like to see a plan for the whole area as soon as possible <br />because there is so much at stake for businesses and what will happen in the area. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski reviewed the utility projects: RTC storm sewer outfall to the <br />Mississippi River; Water Treatment Plant; Water Tower #3 in Elmcrest Park and Watermain <br />extension/looping (Regency Pond to Alpine Park) <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen asked why the City was dumping to the Mississippi with the outfall and <br />whether there was some other containment that could be used. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that the water will go through some filters before going into the Mississippi <br />River, so it will be clean water going in. <br /> <br />Civil Engineer Linton noted that the RTC concept for outfall was for the 100 year event and <br />other than that, the water will be used for things such as irrigation. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen asked if there would be any cost sharing for the expense of building a <br />water treatment plant. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated that the City is pursuing some State funding because there is the <br />possibility for this to be a more regional treatment facility. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski reviewed the items in the annual maintenance program: Street <br />Maintenance and Pond sediment cleaning. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig asked how many ponds the City has that need to be cleaned. <br /> <br />Civil Engineer Linton stated that the City owns at least 90 ponds, but he is unsure how many are <br />slated to need cleaning. <br /> <br />Public Works Committee /January 15, 2008 <br />Page 11 of 13 <br />
