ROAD AND BRIDGE COMMITTEE
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA

The Ramsoy:.Rolld and Bridge Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, April 28, 1992
at the Ramaoy Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota.

Membem Present: Mayor James Gilbertson
Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman

Also Present:

City Administrator Ryan Schroeder
City Engineer Steven Jankowski
Numerous citizens

CALL TO ORDER

Mayor GitbertSon called the meeting of the Road and Bridge Committee to order at 6:00 p.m.

APPROVE AGENDA

Consensus was to approve the agenda as presented.
COMMITTEE BUSINESS

Case #1: Discussion of 153rd Avenue N.W. Extension.

Mr. JankoW'ski ex. plained that the Road and Bridge Committee had initiated a series of meetings to
solicit inpu~ 9n this proposed project. These meetings began last autumn and have consisted of
three previoU~ m'..~fings at which neighbors have proposed alternatives to the route contained in the
City's Thor0qghfare Plan. Also at these meetings, citizens comments have been received. As a
result of this ¢ifi..~. n input, five alternatives have been enumerated and a summary of their benefits,
deficiencieSl and ,Costs has been prepared as a hand-out. At the last meeting which was held on
March 26, 1/9i92, 'citizens provided comments, however, no additional alternatives were suggested.
Due to the .l',t)fi~.~ ~tex! time frame available at that meeting, the Road and Bridge Committee decided to
take no aefi~ir~ but to reschedule this meeting for a continuation of comments by the public.

For the benofit of the considerable number of people at the meeting who had not attended previous
meetings, Mr¢ Jankowski reviewed each alternative prepared in the handout material. Following
this prescription,, citizens asked questions and made comments. One of the most recurring
comments made by citizens concerned the impact of Alternative #1 on the wetland.

Mr. Greg Smith inquired as to how far into the wetland and how much wetland would be affected.

Mr. Jankow~ responded that under the preliminary alignment, the roadway would extend into the
existing wetland ~ distance between 150 and 200 feet and would impact approximately three to
three and one-half acres.

Road and Bridge Committee / April 28, 1992
Page I of 2
