ROAD AND BRIDGE COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />TheRamsey Road and Bridge Committee conducted a regular meeting on Thursday, May <br />14, 19921at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor James Gilbertson <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Engineer Steven Jankowski <br />Public Works Supervisor Merle Mevissen <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />MaYor Gllbertson called the meeting of the Road and Bridge Committee to order at 4:30 <br />p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />Consensus was to approve the agenda as presented. <br />coMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: Review of 1992 Street Maintenance Program. <br /> <br />Mr. Jankowski indicated that the comment period for objections to the assessments for the <br />1992 Street Maintenance Program has expired, and that no petitions opposing the projects <br />had been.received. However, Mr. Jankowski felt it was appropriate to address the <br />comments which were made at the public hearing. He further advised the Road and Bridge <br />Committ~ that prior to the City Council ordering the project, individual citizens may <br />request elements of the program to be deleted whether the Council decides to order such <br />requests is entirely at their discretion. <br /> <br />On Improvement Project #92-01 concerning the sealcoating of 167th Avenue, Mr. Tom <br />WalSh stated that the road was in such poor condition east of Yttrium Street that sealcoating <br />will not provide any benefits. In reviewing that section of roadway, it is evident that this <br />section of 167th Avenue east of Yttrium Street is in poorer condition than the segment of <br />roadway to the west. There are a number of surface defects on the road include shallow <br />potholes, light rutting and some areas showing tight alligatoring. However, with minor <br />repairs or,these noted defects, it is the opinion of both Mr. Jankowski and Mr. Mevissen <br />that sealcoating will provide benefits and should be left on the program. <br /> <br />On Improvement Project #92-02, a citizen indicated that there were large holes and <br />suggcsted~hat the road be overlayed rather than sealcoated. Mr. Jankowski indicated that <br />when the 1992 Street Maintenance Program was first initiated there was a review of the <br />candidate streets in the Fall of 1991.
