Development ~ Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity is looking for Ramsey Residents to Volunteer for the Neighborhood Family Partner Program! As you may know, Twin Cities Habitat for Hu- manity (TCHFH) is building 32 townhomes in the city of Ramsey to sell to low income families through their home- ownership program. The first 8-unit building is completed, the second 8-unit building has just begun construction, and the next two builds will tal(e place in 2009 and 2010. TCHFH provides an II-course training curriculum for all Habitat homebuyers. In addition, they also facili- tate a mentorship program for all new homeowners. The Neighborhood Family Partner (NFP) Program matches volunteers with Habitat families to assist them in their transition from homebuyers to successful homeowners and engaged citizens. We are currently looking for Ramsey residents to volunteer in this capacity! led by a community coordinator to support a new group ofTCHFH homeowners. Understanding of basic home maintenance and community resources. Desire to mentor a new homeowner through the responsibilities of a new home. Appreciation for people with a different culture, language or family structure. The support of a neighbor is essential for a first- time homeowner successfully integrating into a new home and new community. Volunteers in this capacity will be rewarded by observing their Habitat partner family enjoy- ing their new home and community. Volunteers will also gain the benefits of forming a relationship that will allow for mutual sharing and learning. If you are interested in this unique volunteer posi- tion, please contact Lea Berg at TCHFH at 612-331-4090 We are looking for Ramsey residents who have an: Interest in collaborating with a group of volunteers Recreational fires are to be used for recreation, cool(ing or ceremonial purposes. Recreational burning is not to be used for disposal. Recreational fires must consist of clean dry wood, producing little detectable smoke, odor or soot beyond the property line; conducted with an adult tending the fire at all times. Respect weather conditions, neighbors, burning bans and air qual- ity so that nuisance, health or safety hazards are not created. The Ramsey Fire Department suggests a 50 foot minimum distance between the fire site and any structure Public Safety Recreational Burning Regulations or vehicle. If unable to obtain this distance, in no circumstance shall a fire be closer than 25 feet to any structure or vehicle. Burning times are Monday through Friday from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am. Saturday, Sunday and national holidays from 12:00 noon to 6:00 am. A recreational fire site is an area of no more than a 3-foot diam- eter measured from the inside of a fire ring or non-combustible border. Burning Barrels are prohibited. Disposal of larger quantities of brush, trees, etc. requires an Open Burning Permit available through ~ the Fire Department. A $25 applica- tion fee is charged for the permit. Any person conducting an open bum without the necessary permit shall be required to extinguish said fire and may be cited and prosecuted under Ramsey City Ordinance #92-03 (a misdemeanor) and may be charged the cost of fire suppression services from the city of Ramsey Fire Depart- ment at the rate of $300 per hour plus any other costs incurred by the city.
