<br />Development <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity is looking <br />for Ramsey Residents to Volunteer for the <br />Neighborhood Family Partner Program! <br /> <br />As you may know, Twin Cities Habitat for Hu- <br />manity (TCHFH) is building 32 townhomes in the city of <br />Ramsey to sell to low income families through their home- <br />ownership program. The first 8-unit building is completed, <br />the second 8-unit building has just begun construction, and <br />the next two builds will tal(e place in 2009 and 2010. <br />TCHFH provides an II-course training curriculum <br />for all Habitat homebuyers. In addition, they also facili- <br />tate a mentorship program for all new homeowners. The <br />Neighborhood Family Partner (NFP) Program matches <br />volunteers with Habitat families to assist them in their <br />transition from homebuyers to successful homeowners and <br />engaged citizens. We are currently looking for Ramsey <br />residents to volunteer in this capacity! <br /> <br />led by a community coordinator to support a new <br />group ofTCHFH homeowners. <br />Understanding of basic home maintenance and <br />community resources. <br />Desire to mentor a new homeowner through the <br />responsibilities of a new home. <br />Appreciation for people with a different culture, <br />language or family structure. <br />The support of a neighbor is essential for a first- <br />time homeowner successfully integrating into a new home <br />and new community. Volunteers in this capacity will be <br />rewarded by observing their Habitat partner family enjoy- <br />ing their new home and community. Volunteers will also <br />gain the benefits of forming a relationship that will allow <br />for mutual sharing and learning. <br />If you are interested in this unique volunteer posi- <br />tion, please contact Lea Berg at TCHFH at 612-331-4090 <br /> <br />We are looking for Ramsey residents who have an: <br />Interest in collaborating with a group of volunteers <br /> <br />Recreational fires are to <br />be used for recreation, cool(ing or <br />ceremonial purposes. Recreational <br />burning is not to be used for disposal. <br />Recreational fires must <br />consist of clean dry wood, producing <br />little detectable smoke, odor or soot <br />beyond the property line; conducted <br />with an adult tending the fire at all <br />times. Respect weather conditions, <br />neighbors, burning bans and air qual- <br />ity so that nuisance, health or safety <br />hazards are not created. <br />The Ramsey Fire Department <br />suggests a 50 foot minimum distance <br />between the fire site and any structure <br /> <br />Public Safety <br /> <br />Recreational Burning <br />Regulations <br /> <br />or vehicle. If unable to obtain this <br />distance, in no circumstance shall <br />a fire be closer than 25 feet to any <br />structure or vehicle. <br />Burning times are Monday <br />through Friday from 6:00 pm to 6:00 <br />am. Saturday, Sunday and national <br />holidays from 12:00 noon to 6:00 am. <br />A recreational fire site is an <br />area of no more than a 3-foot diam- <br />eter measured from the inside of a <br />fire ring or non-combustible border. <br />Burning Barrels are prohibited. <br />Disposal of larger quantities <br />of brush, trees, etc. requires an Open <br />Burning Permit available through <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br /> <br />the Fire Department. A $25 applica- <br />tion fee is charged for the permit. <br />Any person conducting an open bum <br />without the necessary permit shall be <br />required to extinguish said fire and <br />may be cited and prosecuted under <br />Ramsey City Ordinance #92-03 (a <br />misdemeanor) and may be charged <br />the cost of fire suppression services <br />from the city of Ramsey Fire Depart- <br />ment at the rate of $300 per hour plus <br />any other costs incurred by the city. <br />Please call the Fire Depart- <br />ment at 763-427-4452 if you have <br />any questions or concerns. <br /> <br />www.ci.ramsey.mn.us <br /> <br />5 <br />
