The site is located south of 173rd
Avenue NW between Baugh Street and Armstrong Boulevard. It reported that there are two
existing buildings on the' site, one of which is an apartment building, and the split will satisfy
zoning. He advised that staff is recommending an easement rather than actual construction of the
trail along Armstrong Boulevard.

Chairperson Johns questioned why they would not want to include construction of the trail.

Parks Supervisor Riverblood explained that construction of the trail is required for subdividions,
but was not sure if the policy applies neatly relative to lot splits. He explained that the cost for
the construction of that trail would be about $50,000 and would be out of the realm of possibility
for a homeowner that is requesting a lot split.

Chairperson Johns agreed that it is reasonable then not to request the homeowner to construct
and pave the trail, as they are not constructing 500 homes but just splitting the lot.

Motion by Commissioner Shryock, seconded by Commissioner Barr to recommend the park
dedication for King Ranch Estates be satisfied with a cash contribution of $2,475 (1 lot @
$4,738). Dedication of the trail easement will satisfy the trail dedication requirement.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Johns, Commissioners Shryock, Barr, Backous,
Erickson, Hansen, and LaMere. Voting No: None. Absent: None.

Chairperson Johns requested a short recess and to reconvene in five minutes.

Commissioner Erickson left the meeting due to a prior commitment.

Case #6:

Consider Outdoor Meeting Schedule

Parks Supervisor Riverblood presented the outdoor meeting schedule for 2008. He stated that for
many years the Park and Recreation Commission has met outside at various park locations for
the meetings in the months of May through September. He stated that the purpose is to inspect
those parks, view added structures and also has the Parks Commission available for
neighborhood interaction. He stated that generally the call on the weather is made the afternoon
of the meeting. He advised that if they wish to continue the outdoor meetings, the first meeting
would be at the Sunfish Lake site. He explained that it would work well for the purposes of

Park and Recreation Commission/April 10, 2008
. Page 14 of 18
