being proposed to split this off from the existing property so it can be lived in.
Your office told me it was an "illegal" apartment right now and yet there is
definitely someone living out there already. There were trucks and trailers
coming and going with stuff being unloaded into it and every morning when I
drive to work I can see from Armstrong that there are vehicles parked outside
with frost on them. We were under the impression that the conditional use permit
for this building was solely for it to be used as a riding stable. Again, I am
strongly against the changes being proposed and feel the city should step up and
insure it's residents that it is following up to hold these people to the activities
that the permit sets out for
6. I was told by your office that the owner purchased the property with an
"expectation" of what could be done in that building If this is the reasoning
behind why you feel the owners should be allowed to operate a business or sub -
divide the property I have 3 major issues with this
a. It was the owner's responsibility to check with the appropriate authorities
prior to purchasing to insure they could do what they wanted to do there.
b From what we've seen, there are documented and recorded conditional use
permits on the property. They clearly state what they are to be used for If
the city doesn't stand up for this and stop it from happening, that would
mean that anyone could get a conditional use permit passed and he about
it's use, construct a structure, once the structure is there and they get
caught, then whine to the city that they had different "expectations" of
what they thought it could be used for and get it passed.
c. This property is zoned RESIDENTIAL. Why would anyone think that
they could operate an industrial business in a residential neighborhood? If
these people are business owners, I'm sure they are smart enough to figure
out that you have to have a permit to do so and there would right away be
issues with the zoning.
It is my hope that the city of Ramsey will do the right thing for it's residents (not just one,
but the majority) and stick to what this property was meant to be used as. A large horse
farm with a riding arena. Do not allow more traffic in and out of our quiet street, the
chemicals that would be used into our residential neighborhood and use this as a reminder
on any future projects that the city should follow up on these permits to insure they aren't
being mis -used. It could happen in your neighborhood.
I understand from someone in your office that this letter may not be considered because .
we are choosing to remain anonymous, however I feel a lot of residents including some
of my other neighbors would speak out if they didn't have to fear retaliation so I hope
you will consider this.
Sincerely,
Very concerned resident on Baugh Street.
