Case #5: Consider Request by Liberty Land Development LLC to Accept Private
Street Maintenance Responsibilities in Village of Sunfish Lake
Background:
The City had received a letter from Sean McDonald of Liberty Land Development asking the
City to take over the following items: 1. The landscaped median on Radium Street; 2. The
private park at the intersection of Radium Street and 146 Lane; and 3. Quicksilver Street (a
private street) and the landscaped open space in its median. Since similar requests in the past
have been denied staff is recommending this request be denied partially because the City doesn't
spend much resources on landscaping in individual neighborhoods, so taking this over would set
a precedent for other neighborhoods.
Motion to recommend to the City Council that the request by Liberty Land Development LLC be
denied as it would set a precedent for similar requests.
Action:
Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee.
Action:
CC: 05/13/08
Consider Adoption of a Revised Street Lighting Policy
Case #6
Background:
The recommendation of the Council in 2006 was to adopt a revised street lighting policy after it
had been reviewed by the Park and Recreation Commission. The Park and Recreation
Commission subsequently recommended that trail crossings be added to the list of eligible
priority street lighting locations. The committee recommended adoption of the attached policy,
suggesting that further consideration be given to adding language in the future that addresses the
use of decorative lighting in the City.
Motion to recommend to the City Council that the Revised Street Lighting Policy be adopted.
COMMITTEE INPUT
City Administratioc. by:
,
Works Direc I, • nn i e .1 Ci y Engineer
y g ineer
City Engineer
Assistant City Engi eer
