COUNCIL BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case gl: .Curbside Recycling Contract <br /> <br />Project Manager 13romberg informed Council that the current curbside recycling contract is set to <br />expire on Stfl~ 1, 11992. Council should decide if they want to extend the present contract or <br />advertise for ti~w .bids. He stated the cost of $1.15 falIs in the mid-range for similar programs in <br />Anoka County, bu~t is a little higher than the cost of a program that would include recycling with <br />refuse service;, He added that Ace Solid Waste Management is willing to extend the current <br />contract at the same price. <br /> <br />Billing for the ~recycling was discussed and at the present time the hauler is doing the billing. Mr. <br />Gromberg recommended that, in the future, the City develop a program to bill residents for the <br />service. <br /> <br />Motion by Coun¢ilmember Peterson and seconded by Councilmember Hardin to extend the <br />Curbside RecYcling Program contract with Ace Solid Waste Management, Inc. for one year (July <br />1, 1993). <br /> <br />Further disc~jssion: Councilmember Hardin directed City Staff to research whether the hauler <br />could indicate the cost of recycling on the bill and that it is paid for by the City to make people <br />aware of the Cost Of the program. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbertson, Councilmembers Peterson, Hardin, Beyer and <br />Zimmermam Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #2: Report from the Negotiating Committee (Closed) <br /> <br />Case #3: Receive Bids and Award Contract for Improvement Project g92-15 <br /> (Wood Pond Hills Addition, Phase I Development) <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski stated that the bids were opened for Project 892-15 Wood Pond Hills <br />Addition, Pha~e I Development. A total of 11 bids were received and all were higher than the <br />engineer's estimate with the lowest bid being about 3% higher and the second and third low bids <br />more than 10% higher. The higher bid prices are due to a substantiated increase in unit prices. <br /> <br />Mr. Dickman Knutson, Developer of Wood Pond Hills Addition, stated the rate is acceptable to <br />him. <br /> <br />Motion by Coun¢ilmember Peterson and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to adopt <br />Resolution g92-0~-142 receiving bids and awarding contract to S.J. Louis Construction, Inc. in <br />the amount of $276,499.00, for Improvement Project #92-15 (Sanitary sewer and watermain <br />laterals and street construction for Phase One of Wood Pond Hills Addition). <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gilbertson, Councilmembers Peterson, Zimmerman, Beyer <br />and Hardin. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #4: Receive Bids and Award Contract for the 1992 Street Crack Sealing <br /> Project <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski stated the City received four bids for the 1992 Street Crack Sealing <br />Project with the lowest bidder being Astech Asphalt Surface Technologies Corporation. <br /> <br />City Council/June 9, 1992 <br /> Page 4 of 7 <br /> <br /> <br />
