Mayor Gamec stated that there should be a bigger buffer between the lake. and where the homes
begin. He stated that he thinks this was the lesson learned at Brookview.

Councilmember Dehen asked how much the City was paying for the consulting services and
asked what the next step is.

Parks Supervisor Riverblood stated that it is an amount not to exceed $23,000 for all their work.

Mr. Schoenbauer stated that the process is about half-way complete and they will focus on a
master plan for the park site as well as planning options for the trail connections in the bigger
scheme of things.

Councilmember Look asked what the time frame is for the park build out.

Parks Supervisor Riverblood stated that if a plan is approved, there is already $300,000
scheduled in the CIP for this, so a portion of it could be completed in 2008.

Councilmember Look asked if the underpass was planned for the first portion.

Public Works Director Olson stated that it was not part of the first portion and would cost
approximately $440,000.

Mayor Gamec stated that he thinks the concept looks good and when developers come in, the
City can move forward and explain our concept plans.

Park and Recreation Commission Chair Johns stated that she agrees and feels the City needs to
let people know what our dream is, or it will never happen.

Parks Supervisor Riverblood stated that the focus will be on the property that the City owns.

2) Community Center Task Force

Mayor Gamec stated that he feels there should be a very diverse group of people on the
Community Center Task Force. He stated that he was wondering if there should be someone
from LifeFitness on the task force because they know what kind of fitness equipment is being
used these days.

Councilmember Dehen noted that Assistant City Administrator Nelson had listed in the staff
report a number of possible groups that could potentially have representation.

Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated that she did not include business entities, but various
community groups. She stated that if the City partners with someone, such as Flagship Fitness,
they would be responsible for what type of equipment is included in the facility.

City Council Work Session IAprill5, 2008
