Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated that when the Landmark Bank option was discussed
in 2005, the Council decided that they wanted to see the building be a public facility.

City Administrator Ulrich stated that they can approach the bank and see if they are still
interested. He stated that he feels it would be a shame to get rid of the building since it is the
only historic building in town.

Councilmember Strommen stated that she would like to see the structure in a more prominent
place in the community and not at its current location which is easy to miss when you drive by.
She stated that she is not enthusiastic about talking to the bank because then the City would lose
the value to the public as well as a piece of our historic identity. She stated that the RTC may
not be the best place to move it.

Councilmember Look stated that he agreed that the current location is not the right one and
thinks it may be a nice idea to incorporate it into the RTC, however, is unsure if this is the best
time considering the earlier budget discussion. He suggested that it be discussed again in a year.

Councilmember Jeffrey stated that there may be some grant money available because of the
historical nature of the building and suggested that staff research this issue.

MAYOR, COUNCIL AND STAFF INPUT

None

ADJOURNMENT

The Work Session of the City Council was adjourned at 6:50 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

~~(~o

Ulrich
City Administrator

Drafted by Kayla Atkins-Rokosz
TimeSaver Off Site Secretarial, Inc.

City Council Work Session I April 22, 2008
Page 4 of 4
