trucks will come in on Jarvis Street and down Andrie to avoid it. She stated that they have even
gotten calls from people asking them to check and see ifthe weigh station is open.

Chair Elvig suggested that this information be passed onto Police Chief Way for stronger patrol
enforcement.

City Engineer Jankowski distributed copies of the letter he plans to send to residents prior to the
informational meeting.

Councilmember Dehen suggested that the letter clearly state that the City is not looking at
acquiring any property. He also suggested that the right of way measurement from 33 feet from.
the center of the road be included somewhere in the letter.

Case #5:

Consider Request by Liberty Land Development LLC to Accept Private
Street Maintenance Responsibilities in Village of Sunfish Lake

City Engineer Jankowski stated that the City had received a letter from Sean McDonald of
Liberty Land Development asking the City to take over the following items: 1. The landscaped
median on Radium Street; 2. The private park at the intersection of Radium Street and 146th
Lane; and 3. Quicksilver Street (a private street) and the landscaped open space in its median.
He stated that the City has received similar requests in the past which it has denied. He stated
that staff is recommending this request be denied partially because the City doesn't spend much
resources on landscaping in individual neighborhoods, so taking this over would set a precedent
for other neighborhoods.

Chair Elvig stated that when the Villages of Sunfish Lake came in, the City told them not to
come back and ask for the City to take over these streets or medians because they wanted
narrower streets to get in more housing units.

Motion by Chairperson Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Dehen, to recommend to the City
Council that the request by Liberty Land Development LL be denied as it would set a precedent
for similar requests.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Elvig and Councilmember Dehen. Voting No: None.
Absent: Councilmember Olson.

Case #6:

Consider Adoption of a Revised Street Lighting Policy

City Engineer Jankowski stated that the Street Lighting Policy was discussed by the Public
Works Committee in 2006 and recommendations were sent to the Park and Recreation
Commission for their input. He stated that the Park and Recreation Commission discussed it on
November 9,2006, but it never made it back to the Public Works Commission.

Councilmember Dehen asked if there was something the City could do so the lights are not just
put on telephone poles.

Public Works Committee / April 15, 2008
