<br />Public Works Director Olson agreed that the turn back of CR 63 will be complete in July, before <br />the comprehensive plan is approved, so that could be taken out, but the other projects for <br />Highway 10 are longer term and more ongoing. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey questioned the strategy to use roundabouts when feasible. He stated that <br />he feels the word feasible needs to be better defined because it may mean different things to <br />different people. He suggested that the wording be changed to say that roundabouts will be used <br />where it is appropriate to move traffic. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Elvig confirmed that the first strategy under Goal #2 came from the public <br />meetings. <br /> <br />Mr. Carlson stated that this did come from the public meetings and this strategy was also <br />repeated in the Land Use section. . <br /> <br />Councilmember Look stated that if this was going to be included in the comprehensive plan, he <br />feels the City should take a more proactive role in making sure this happens. <br /> <br />Mr. Carlson reported that the strategy states that the City will explore options, notthat sidewalks <br />are required. He stated that this came from an OST meeting and includes qualifying language <br />that there may be different standards applied. <br /> <br />Councilmember Olson stated that the trail system that the City has today is more or less purely <br />for recreational purposes. She stated that she would like to start thinking about the trails as a <br />way for people to get where they need to go for business or shopping. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Miller suggested including a statement that says the City will <br />ensure connections to employment centers. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated that the transit station should be included as a destination. <br /> <br />Mr. Carlson suggested stating "ensure trail connections to transit stops, employment, shopping <br />and other services". <br /> <br />There was a Consensus of the Council to add this strategy. <br /> <br />Councilmember Look asked what examples there would be for the Goal #3 strategy of <br />establishing numerous, efficient, affordable and internal and external transportation connections <br />that include multi-modal transportation choices. <br /> <br />Mr. Carlson stated that multi-modal means to bring train, bus, bicycles, pedestrians and cars <br />together.
