She stated that the Planning Commission <br />has recommended approval to allow an additional 25 sq. ft. sign at the entrance to the facility on <br />Riverdale Drive. <br /> <br />Councilmember Olson stated that because of the nature of the property being surrounding by <br />roads, she feels it is appropriate to allow 2 signs. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen asked what the criteria is for allowing multiple signs and whether it was <br />that they had to have frontage on more than one road. <br /> <br />Assistant Community Development Director Frolik stated that currently this is reviewed on a <br />case by cases basis, but past ordinances have allowed additional signage if there was frontage on <br />more than one road. She stated that she is unsure why this was removed and would like the <br />Council to reconsider this criterion. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen stated that she agrees with Councilmember Olson that this request <br />feels appropriate, and would like to make sure the City takes a look at the code. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Jeffrey, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to adopt Resolution <br />#08-05-078 adopting Findings of Fact #0825 related to the Conditional Use Permit for overage <br />of signs. <br /> <br />Motion carried. V oting Yes: Mayor Pro Tern Elvig, Councilmembers Jeffrey, Olson, Dehen, <br />Look, and Strommen. Voting No: None. Absent: Mayor Gamec. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Jeffrey, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to approve Resolution <br />#08-05-079 approving the Conditional Use Permit. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Pro Tern Elvig, Councilmembers Jeffrey, Olson, Dehen, <br />Look, and Strommen. Voting No: None. Absent: Mayor Gamec. <br /> <br />Case #3: <br /> <br />Request for Home Occupation Permit; Case of Nathan Wattenhofer <br /> <br />Community Development Director Miller stated that Mr. Wattenhofer has applied for a Home <br />Occupation Permit to operate a specialty fabrication business in an attached accessory structure <br />at 17151 Baugh Street NW. She stated that the applicant has one client, a national fitness chain <br />and will use no solvents, nor would there be any exhausting of fumes to the outside. She stated <br />that the business would be located on a 3 acre parcel, if the Council approves Case #4, a minor <br />subdivision, for this property and would comply with all codes. She noted that the hours of <br />operation for the business will be Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or as needed. <br />She stated that the building will require a fire suppression system be installed. She stated that <br />staff and the Planning Commission have recommended approval of this permit. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen stated that he wanted to disclose that he met Mr. Wattenhofer about 15 <br />years ago, but has not had any dealings with him since that time. <br /> <br />City Council / May 13, 2008 <br />Page 5 of 17 <br />
