Motion carried. Voting Yes, Mayor Gamec and Councilmembers Dehen, Jeffrey, Look, Olson
and Strommen Voting No: None. Member absent: Councilmember Elvig.
Councilmember Dehen stated that Councilmember Elvig is out of the country, but he asked him
to pass on his congratulations to Jake on his accomplishments.
Brandon Paulson stated that he has been honored to work with Jake and noted that he thinks he is
the best Greco Roman wrestler he has seen in the last 25 years in the United States.
Police Chief Way stated that there is a golf tournament to benefit the Anoka High School
wrestling program scheduled for August 4, 2008, at Greenhaven and noted that they can contact
Todd Springer for more information.
PRESENTATIONS AND RECOGNITION — ANOKA COUNTY SESQUICENTENNIAL
EVENTS
Paul Pierce III, Vice President of Anoka County Historical. Society, and Patti Kurak stated that
they wanted to officially thank Ramsey for their contributions to making Anoka County's
Sesquicentennial events a success. Mr. Pierce stated that the County was founded on May 23,
1857. He presented the City with a photograph of Henry Staff, a farmer and former County
Commissioner who lived in Ramsey. He noted that this picture was part of the exhibit that
traversed the County. He distributed commemorative mugs to the Council and asked them to
watch a short DVD that showed a montage of the events from the past year. After the movie, he
expressed his thanks to Patti Kurak for putting together this DVD.
CITIZEN INPUT
John Enstrom, 8702 - 181 Avenue, stated that he would like to see if the City can get a bond or
certification from public utilities so that when they run through private property, the area is
restored to its original contour when they are finished. He stated that he just experienced a
problem when a power line company came in last fall and told him that they were just changing
the power poles because they were rotting, which he didn't agree with. He stated that when they
were finished, they had installed a pole that is twice the height of the old pole. He feels they
went about this in a fraudulent way and the poles are now way above tree height, which is an
eyesore. He stated that they dug the holes in the winter and now in the spring they have caved in
and they have brought in river rock to shore up the poles, so the area can longer be mowed. He
stated that he thinks they should be held accountable for destroying the property.
Mayor Gamec stated that staff can check into this and report back to Mr. Enstrom.
There being no additional Citizen Input, this portion of the meeting was closed at 7:38 p.m.
APPROVE AGENDA
City Administrator Ulrich stated that there is one item added under Consent Agenda #4, for
License Applications. He stated that he would also recommend postponing Case #5 on the
City Council / May 27, 2008
