I have <br />attached the data. Based on the same data, by just adding up the available hours from the <br />inspectors and building official, there are 9,080 available hours. Staffing levels in the building <br />division are in excess of current workload. We are in the process of the looking at other <br />alternatives to apply the available capacity. There may be opportunities available in other <br />departments in the coming months. This is an ongoing process and expect to have additional <br />information at a subsequent meeting. <br />• Can the position be filled internally? <br />The position could be filled internally by promoting the Management Intern who is already <br />trained and doing a great deal of the work <br />• What is the impact (i.e., to residents, business owners, employees, and/or <br />operations) if the position is not filled? <br />The impact to residents would be reduced customer service; longer waits for return phone calls; <br />less responsiveness to public hearing concerns /development and zoning inquiries; and less <br />thorough review of proposed developments, which has the potential of leading to loopholes. <br />There will be less time to undertake creative and innovative planning techniques. Planning <br />requires so much attention to detail, that reassigning work will likely lead to missed <br />
