Board Member Freeburg suggested a guided tour of the Trott Brook Watershed, as he explained
that it is one of the crown jewels of the City but many people do not know about it.

Environmental Coordinator Anderson advised that they would need to look into where the land
could be accessed by the public and thought that it would be better to tie that in with the
Environmental Expo rather than having it as a stand alone project.

Board Member Freeburg explained that he was thinking more along the lines of a bus tour of that
area.

Environmental Coordinator Anderson advised that staff had discussed something such as a field
trip to bring people over to the Bunker Hills activity area, but stated that the downside of that
was that they would be bringing people outside the limits of the City.

Board Member Bentz stated that he liked the idea of improving the NRI and the wetlands. He
explained that they could look for low quality areas that they could set aside to restore. He
advised that by keeping track of their work it would not only be educational but would also
improve the property value in Ramsey.

Board Member Freeburg thought that habitat restoration was a good idea and wanted to make
sure that the public would know that the EPB was involved.

Acting Chairperson Sibilski advised that the Board could keep this item on the agenda as on
ongoing discussion.

Environmental Coordinator Anderson advised that he would keep this item ongoing under the
old business section of the agenda in the future.

OLD BUSINESS

Board Member Bentz questioned if they were going to review the work plan for the Board
anytime soon, as they are halfway through the year.

Environmental Coordinator Anderson advised that there were two main items on the work plan.
He stated that the first item, research the feasibility of an open space referendum, had already
had the input of the Council for the time being. He advised that the second item was the aspect
of environmental education and awareness. He advised that last year the Board had invited a
speaker, Paul Anton, to speak on the value of open space and stated that they could do something
along those lines again this year if desired.

Board Member Freeburg advised that the trees that had been planted by the Board last month are
doing well. He stated that the trees all have healthy leaves and the fruit trees have flowered. He
stated that at some point they may want to refresh the mulch around the trees but otherwise the
trees are all prosperous.

Acting Chairperson Sibilski questioned if there was an update on the wetland inventory.

Environmental Coordinator Anderson advised that the 60-day review period had officially ended
and that two agencies had requested a formal extension of time for their comments.
