Fitzpatrick <br /> <br />FACTS <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey through its city council is considering <br />conveying a gift of used computers to an organization known as The <br />Fish pond. It is my understanding tnat 'l'he Fish Fond is <br />essentially a youth center located in the City ofAnoka under ,the <br />control of the Elim Baptist Church of Anoka, MN. The computers are <br />used and will now be replaced by more updated and efficient <br />comp)lters. I have 1:>een informed that the computers have a value of <br />approximately $3,000.00. <br /> <br />QUES'1'ION I <br /> <br />Can a municipality convey city owned personal property as a <br />gift to a charitable organization? <br /> <br />ANSW:SR <br /> <br />Under M.S.S412.211 a municipal corporaeion may hold, manage, <br />control, sell, convey, lease, or otherwise dispose of such property <br />as its interest require.
