Disabled American Veterans Anoka Chapter #39

May 6. 2008

I Subject: Community Support for the City of Ramsey

]

The Anoka Chapter continues to help veterans throughout the northwest suburbs. At
present we have some 38 members living in the City of Ramsey. We have moved handicap
equipment to members which are in need of it. The handicap equipment is at no charge to the
veteran or the veteran families. The handicap equipment is anything from walkers, wheelchairs,
hospital beds and even motorized scooters. We get many different types of donations and have
giving the Ramsey Fire Department new stuff animals to assist a child if they were involved in a
house fire or car accident. We Work with the Anoka County Veterans Service Office and help many .
veterans in need. This is a program which over the last four years has given out over $12,000.00
. in gift card for food or gifts during the holiday. Many of them live in Anoka and Ramsey area.

We do pick~up service to many households in the City of Ramsey. The Clothing drives have
been going on for about three years and it. is hard to estimate the amount of clothing which was r~
used at no expense to the city.

We are always looking at many more ideas to help different city, like adopted a park, or
adopted a highway. We have been talking about this with our Auxiliary members. We have
assisted ill the recycle days in Andover; taking clothing only. And if asked would help in the
recycle days of Ramsey.

S~&2A

Scott D. Berndt
Commander DAV #39

-110-
