<br />Consent # \ 1 <br /> <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A JOINT POWERS AGRREEMENT <br />REGARDING PUBLIC SAFETY RELATED TO THE <br />2008 REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION <br />By: James Way, Police Chief <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The City of S1. Paul is hosting the Republican National Convention (RNC) between September <br />1,2008 and September 4, 2008. The City of S1. Paul is in need of procuring additional law <br />enforcement personnel to provide public safety and security during the event. Minnesota State <br />Statutes allow for Joint Power and Mutual Aid agreements. <br /> <br />Funding: <br /> <br />All costs associated with the event willbe reimbursable. This includes all wages and benefits. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends execution of the agreement authorizing a Joint Powers Agreement with the <br />City of St. Paul allowing officers to provide public safety and security at the RNC. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to adopt Resolution #08-06-XXX authorizing a Joint Powers Agreement with the City of <br />S1.
