<br />Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #08-06-XXX <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A JOINT POWERS AGRREEMENT REGARDING <br />PUBLIC SAFETY RELATED TO THE. 2008 REPUBLICAN NATIONAL <br />CONVENTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Republican National Convention eRNC) will be held this year in the <br />City of St. Paul, Minnesota, between September 1 and September4, 2008; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of St. Paul is in need of procuring additional law enforcement <br />personnel to provide public safety and security during the event; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota State Statutes allow for Joint Power and Mutual Aid <br />Agreements; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey Police Department is requesting authorization to enter <br />into a Joint Power Agreement with the City ofSt. Paul to aid with public safety during the RNC; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, all costs associated with the event, including wages and benefits will be <br />reimbursable. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BYTHE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1. That the City Council of the City of Ramsey authorize a Joint Powers Agreement for <br />additional law enforcement personnel between the City of Ramsey and the City of St. <br />Paul during the RNC. <br /> <br />2. That all expenses associated. with the event, including wages and benefits will be <br />reimbursed. . <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was.duly seconded by Councilmember <br />, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />and th~ following voted against the same: <br /> <br />and the following abstained: <br /> <br />and the following were. absent: <br /> <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council <br />the 24th day of June 2008. <br /> <br />-92- <br />
